When you search Google for a keyword related to your business, what comes up? Go ahead and open up another tab, then type your industry + city into Google. Check your results. If you’re lucky and/or your SEO is already optimized, you may be on the first page of Google. That’s great! If you haven’t optimized your SEO, you may have gotten lucky and can easily get pushed further down the ranks by a competitor.
There’s a good chance, though, that you are pretty low on the rankings if you haven’t implemented an SEO campaign. This is especially so if you have a lot of competitors in your space. If your business is local and brick-and-mortar, you may have a lot of similar companies in the area you are competing against. It’s important to take a look at these competitors and see what they are up to. You need to see what strategies they are using, what keywords, and other factors that are helping to boost their rankings.
Once you understand your competitors, you can start making changes to your own site to better compete with other companies in your niche.
